How we handle your data

Your Privacy

Plain language. No small print.

The Short Version

We only use what you type — nothing else.

When you send a message to the concierge, we use it to find you a restaurant. That is the only reason we collect it. We don't ask for your name, your email, or any personal information. To avoid repeating the same recommendations across visits, we generate a random anonymous identifier on your device and store it alongside a list of restaurants we have suggested to you. This data contains no name or contact information. You can reset it at any time by clearing your browser data.

Your message is automatically deleted after 90 days.

What happens when you send a message

Step by Step

  • 1We read your message using Anthropic's Claude to extract what you're looking for — neighbourhood, cuisine, occasion, mood, group size.
  • 2We search our database of curated Paris restaurants. If we find a good match, Mistral AI composes a personalised reply and we recommend it to you.
  • 3If we don't have a match, we run an anonymous web search on trusted food editorial sites to find new suggestions. The search query is a generalised version of your request — not your exact words.
  • 4Your message is stored for 90 days so we can improve the service, then it is permanently deleted. It is never sold or shared for marketing purposes.
  • 5A random anonymous identifier is generated on your device and used to record which restaurants we have suggested to you — so we can offer fresh picks on future visits. This identifier and your recommendation history are stored on our servers; they contain no name, email, or contact information, only a list of seen restaurant names. You can reset this at any time by clearing your browser data.

Who processes your data

Five Partners — All with a Clear Role

To deliver the concierge and remember your preferences, your data is handled by five trusted services. Here's what each one does.

Anthropic (Claude)
🇺🇸 United States
Reads your message to extract what you're looking for — neighbourhood, cuisine, occasion, formality. Transfers comply with EU data protection law via standard contractual clauses.
Mistral AI
🇫🇷 France
Writes the concierge reply you receive, drawing on our restaurant database. An EU company, subject to the same data protection rules as us.
Tavily
🇺🇸 United States
Runs an anonymous web search when our database doesn't have a match. Receives a generalised search query, not your original message. Transfers comply with EU data protection law via standard contractual clauses.
OVH
🇫🇷 France
Hosts our servers in France. OVH stores your message for the 90-day retention period. No other access to your data.
Supabase
🇺🇸 United States
Stores your anonymous session identifier and restaurant recommendation history on our behalf — enabling fresh suggestions on return visits without repeating venues you've already seen. A US-headquartered company; data transfers comply with EU data protection law via standard contractual clauses.

We do not use your data to train AI models. We do not sell it. We do not share it with advertisers.

The Legal Basis

Why We're Allowed to Do This

We process your message on the basis of legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — you send us a message specifically to receive a restaurant recommendation, and processing that message is the only way we can provide the service. We collect the minimum data needed, retain it for the minimum time needed, and do not use it for any secondary purpose.

The service is operated by La Table Voisine. For any privacy questions, contact us at contact@latablevoisine.fr.
